Director - Destiny Guerra



Destiny is currently the Director of the Viera Guard Program.  She has 20 years of classical dance training in many forms (ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro, etc) and has been choreographing for various performance groups since 2001.  

Destiny started her guard career with Bartram Trail High School (2001-2004) where she served as captain her senior year.  She also performed and served as color guard captain with Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (2001-2003).

Destiny has a degree is Music Performance (Percussion) from the University of North Florida.  She also currently teaches piano and voice at The Viera Dance Conservatory, is the Director of the Invitational Talent Competition since 2008, and has been Director of Guards at Viera High School since 2010.

Destiny has two really awesome dogs and she loves guacamole. =)

Instructor - Gracie Sheridan

Gracie is currently assisting during rehearsals as instructor of the Viera Guard Program.  She performed with the Viera Guard from 2010-2013 and is a current performer with the University of Central Florida Pegasus Open Winter Guard.  She is attending Eastern Florida State College where she is working towards a degree in Hospitality.  

Gracie is also an award-winning equestrian with Third Level & Grand Prix Dressage and Stadium Jumping achievements earned throughout her competitive career.



History
2012-2013

The Viera Guard Program expanded to include Varsity and JV Winter Guard teams!  Leadership from both teams also mentored, Visions, a new youth winter guard for the Brevard County area!

The inaugural season of Visions Winter Guard was phenomenal and so much fun! They presented their energy-filled program "Run Away Baby" at local and FFCC shows.

JV Winter Guard

Viera JV's first season was incredibly successful!  Their show "I Will Wait for You" featuring the music of Mumford and Sons, earned them 1st place at the Robinson Starlet Spectacular and placed them in the Top 5 of the B Class division at FFCC Championships.

Varsity Winter Guard

Viera Varsity presented their show "The Universe is in Us" with a soundtrack including choral arrangements by Eric Whitacre (Lux Aurumque and Nox Aurumque) and spoken word selections from Time's "10 Questions" interview with Neil DeGrasse Tyson.  They were finalists at the 2013 WGI Southeast Championships and went on to compete at 2013 WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH.  Varsity also competed in FFCC Championships and placed in the Top 5 of the the Scholastic Class A division.

2012 Viera Color Guard


The VHS Winter Guard had an amazing 2012 season with their show "Say".  At FFCC Premiere they were promoted to Scholastic Class AA and on March 31st became the 2012 Scholastic Class AA Paradigm Division Gold Medal Champions!

2010-2011

The Viera High School Winter Guard finished it's inaugural season in 7th place at FFCC State Championships in the AAA division and improved their score by almost 30 points throughout the course of the season!  Their show "Every Day in the Morning" always entertained the competition crowd and showcased the hard work of the members in performance and elbow grease (the floor was a giant calendar...painted by the team!).

In Fall of 2010, performing to the music of Stan Kenton, the Marching Hawks' Color Guard received a Superior rating at Florida Bandmaster's Association MPA District Festival (Fall 2010).
